Race Day is Saturday April 30th, 2011

Course map and Parking Map.

Parking:
  • Please carpool as we are sharing the campus with finals and graduation ceremonies.
  • UAA Map Detailing Parking is here.
  • Shuttles will be running every 15 minutes from 8:30AM to noon. Come early and look for the Seawolf Shuttle signs.

Your Bib:

  • Pin your number to the front of your shirt and keep it visible

Event Options:

  • 5K Timed Event – 9:30AM (line up by 9AM)
    • A competitive event for participants who want an official “gun start to finish line” time to be considered for overall and age group top finisher awards. Runners will also receive a start mat to finish mat time for their race. This time will not be considered for awards but is produced for the personal records of the runner. Results will be made available @ www.heartrun.com within 48 hours of the race completion. Instructions for your timing chip are with your bib.
  • 5K Non-Timed Event – 10:00AM (line up by 9:45AM)
    • A non-competitive event for those who enjoy walking or running. Participants are not timed and will not be considered for awards.
  • 3K Heart Lite Event – 10:00AM (line up by 9:45AM)
    • The Heart Lite Event starts with the non-timed 5k participants and is for those interested in a shorter, flatter course. This approximately 3K course follows the traditional course, but instead of heading up the APU hill, you turn left and head back toward the finish. Participants are not timed and will not be considered for awards.

Awards Ceremony

    • The awards ceremony will directly follow the timed event and will recognize the overall finisher and survivor performances.
      • (a survivor is anyone who has suffered either a heart or stroke incidence.)

Important:      

    • Those with young children and with strollers please line-up towards the back of the crowd for the non-competitive event. There are absolutely NO STROLLERS allowed in the competitive event! It is your responsibility to insure your safety and the safety of your family. DO NOT PUSH!
    • Anyone witnessed using inappropriate behavior at the start or anywhere on the course will be disqualified and asked to leave event grounds.
      • Important Safety Issues:
        • No Pets, bicycles, roller blades, roller skis, wagon’s, or skate boards. They are not allowed at any time on the day of the event. Due to safety and insurance reasons, all participants pushing strollers and baby joggers must walk in the10:00 a.m. non competitive event.
        • Please be environmentally responsible!
    • Champion Disposable Timing Chip – This is for the 9:30AM event only. Be sure to lace your chip to your shoe securely. Parents with children…check your children’s shoes.
      • Note: If you lose your timing chip, replacement fee is $5
  • Wheelchair Start – The Competitive wheelchair event will start 5 minutes prior to the main start of each event.
  • The Course – Be observant of your location and traffic at all times. Listen and follow instructions from the course monitors.
  • Finish – There will be one common finish for both men and women. Once you have crossed the finish line, stay single file to the end of the chute. Do not pass after the finish, do not pass in the chute. Move rapidly through the finish area to avoid back-ups. Once through the area, please move away from the chute area to avoid clogging. Under no circumstances cross the finish line more than once.
  • Kids Medals
    • Children 6th grade and under remember to pick up your medal!
  • First Aid
